In the last decade, Amazon has grown to become one of the world’s largest online retailers. With its headquarters located in Seattle, Washington, Amazon has become a major part of the Seattle skyline. But how many buildings does Amazon actually have in Seattle?
As of 2021, Amazon owns over 40 million square feet of office space in Seattle – this is spread out over 33 buildings. The first building was purchased by Amazon in 1998 and since then they have expanded their presence in the city. The majority of these buildings are located in the South Lake Union neighborhood, which has become known as “Amazonia” due to the sheer number of buildings owned by Amazon.
The most notable building is the Day 1 tower – this is a 43-story skyscraper that was completed in 2019 and stands at 530 feet tall. This building houses many of Amazon’s corporate offices and is also home to their “Sphere” – a unique biodome-like structure with over 40,000 plants from around the world.
In addition to these office spaces, Amazon also owns several warehouses located throughout Seattle’s industrial areas. These warehouses are used for storage and distribution purposes for products sold online.
