Big Daddy is a 1999 American comedy film starring Adam Sandler and directed by Dennis Dugan. It tells the story of a man-child (Sandler) who is forced to take responsibility for a young boy he adopts, and how his life changes as a result. The film was well-received by critics, and was a box office success.

Big Daddy follows the story of Sonny Koufax (Adam Sandler), an immature 32-year old living off of his wealthy father’s money. After being evicted from his father’s apartment, Sonny finds himself taking in an abandoned 5 year old boy named Julian (Cole Sprouse). At first, Sonny only adopts Julian as a means to avoid eviction, but over time he finds himself becoming attached to the child and eventually decides to take on full custody of him.

Throughout the movie, Sonny learns to be responsible and grow up while teaching Julian important life lessons. He also develops relationships with some unlikely people along the way such as Layla (Kristy Swanson), an old flame; Kevin Gerrity (Jon Stewart), an uptight lawyer; and Vanessa (Joey Lauren Adams), Julian’s feisty teacher.

The movie is filled with moments that make you laugh but also has its share of heartfelt moments that will make you tear up. It’s a great mix of comedy and drama, making it an enjoyable watch for all ages.
