Is Rugrats Go Wild on Netflix?

Rugrats Go Wild is a 2003 American animated comedy adventure movie produced by Nickelodeon Movies and Klasky Csupo for Paramount Pictures. It is a crossover film, featuring two popular Nickelodeon cartoon series: Rugrats and The Wild Thornberrys. The film follows the adventures of the two titular families as they become stranded on an uncharted island, encountering various animals and obstacles on their journey to safety.

Plot: The movie begins with the Rugrats and their parents, Stu and Didi Pickles, visiting a beach resort in Hawaii. Meanwhile, the Thornberrys—Debbie, Eliza, Donnie, Darwin (the family’s pet chimpanzee) and Nigel—are also vacationing in Hawaii for Nigel to film a nature documentary about sea turtles hatching.

After accidentally switching flights with Stu’s assistant Coco LaBouche, the two families end up stranded on an uncharted island. While trying to find a way off the island, they encounter various animals and hazards including an eccentric hermit crab named Spike; a giant monkey; an escaped circus chimp; and hostile natives led by Big Gwich’in.

The families must work together to survive their ordeal while also coping with their own personal issues—Stu’s overprotective parenting style; Didi being overly-reliant on him; Eliza’s struggle to fit in among her more mature siblings; Donnie’s tendency to cause trouble; Debbie’s desire for independence; and Nigel’s difficulty in accepting Darwin as part of the family. Ultimately Stu invents a makeshift version of his “Reptar Wagon” from the Rugrats TV series which allows them all to escape from the island back home safely.

Cast: The voice cast features many of the actors from both series: E.G Daily as Tommy Pickles and Buttercup from The Powerpuff Girls; Tara Strong as Dil Pickles from The Powerpuff Girls; Kath Soucie as Phil and Lil DeVille from Rugrats (the twins); Cheryl Chase as Angelica Pickles from Rugrats ; Tim Curry as Nigel Thornberry from The Wild Thornberrys ; Flea as Donnie Thornberry from The Wild Thornberrys ; Lacey Chabert as Eliza Thornberry from The Wild Thornberrys ; Danielle Harris as Debbie Thornberry from The Wild Thornberrys ; Bruce Willis as Spike (a hermit crab) from Rugrats All Grown Up! ;
and John DiMaggio as Big Gwich’in (a native chief).

Rugrats Go Wild was released on June 13th, 2003 in both theaters and VHS/DVD formats. It received generally positive reviews but did not perform well at the box office compared to other Nickelodeon Movies releases such as Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius or Good Burger . However it has since gained a cult following among fans of both franchises due its clever use of crossover elements between both series that make it stand out even today.
