Is the Animatrix on Netflix?

The Animatrix is a collection of nine animated short films set in the world of the Matrix trilogy. It was released in 2003, six months before the release of The Matrix Reloaded. The Animatrix consists of four written works, three produced by the Wachowskis and one by Yoshiaki Kawajiri, as well as four other shorts produced by other creators.

The Wachowskis’ shorts include “The Second Renaissance”, two parts which focus on humanity’s fall and its subsequent enslavement by intelligent machines; “Kid’s Story”, which follows a teenage boy’s attempt to escape from the Matrix; and “Program”, which follows a woman’s journey through an abstract computer program.

Kawajiri’s short is “Beyond”, which follows a group of people who try to break free from the Matrix.

The remaining four shorts were produced by Mahiro Maeda, Peter Chung, Andy Jones, and Takeshi Koike. They include “Matriculated”, which follows a group of humans trying to create their own virtual reality; “Final Flight of Osiris”, which focuses on a group of rebels trying to deliver an important message to Zion; “World Record” about a man attempting to break his own record for running; and “Detective Story” about an investigation into a murder.

So is The Animatrix on Netflix? Unfortunately, no. While Netflix does have some great animated movies and series available for streaming, The Animatrix is not among them. However, it can be rented or purchased digitally from Amazon Video or iTunes.
