Is the Birdcage on Netflix?

The Birdcage is a classic 1996 comedy movie, directed by Mike Nichols, and starring Robin Williams, Nathan Lane, and Gene Hackman. The movie is based on the 1978 French play La Cage Aux Folles by Jean Poiret. The story follows a gay couple who own a nightclub in South Beach Miami, and the chaos that ensues when they must pretend to be heterosexual to fool the visiting conservative in-laws of one of them.

The Birdcage was released to critical acclaim and was a huge box office success. It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor (Gene Hackman) and won two Golden Globes for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy (Nathan Lane).

It has remained popular over the years and is considered one of the best comedies of all time.
