Is Unforgiven on Netflix?

The 1992 Western drama Unforgiven is a classic tale of revenge and redemption. Directed by Clint Eastwood, the film stars Eastwood as a retired gunslinger who is forced to take up his guns once again to seek revenge for the wrong done to a prostitute. The film is widely considered one of the greatest Westerns ever made, earning four Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor (Gene Hackman) and Best Editing.

Unforgiven follows Eastwood’s character, William Munny, a former outlaw living in relative solitude on his farm. He is approached by the Schofield Kid (Jaimz Woolvett), who offers him $1000 to help him exact revenge against a group of cowboys who cut up one of the prostitutes at a nearby town’s saloon.

Munny reluctantly agrees and joins forces with his old partner Ned Logan (Morgan Freeman). The pair sets off on their mission and soon finds themselves in a heated confrontation with Sheriff Little Bill Daggett (Gene Hackman).

The movie has been praised for its stark realism and unflinching portrayal of violence. Eastwood’s direction is also lauded for its skillful use of suspense and tension. Unforgiven features some iconic lines from Eastwood that have become part of pop culture lore, such as “Deserve’s got nothing to do with it” and “It’s a hell of a thing, killing a man”.
