On Which Phones Will WhatsApp Stop Working?

WhatsApp has been the most popular messaging app since its launch in 2009, and is one of the most widely used apps in the world. The company has now announced that it will be ending support for certain phones from 1st January 2020.

The list of phones for which WhatsApp will no longer work includes certain models of iPhone and Android devices, as well as Windows Phone devices. On iPhones, WhatsApp will stop working on any device running iOS 8 or older.

This includes iPhone 4 and earlier models, as well as some models released in 2011-2013. On Android, WhatsApp will stop working on any device running Android 2.3 or older. This includes some versions of Samsung Galaxy S2, HTC Desire, Sony Xperia Tipo and Motorola Droid Razr.

If you are using one of these devices, you won’t be able to create new accounts or re-verify existing accounts after the 1st January 2020 deadline. However, you can still continue to use WhatsApp until then if your device meets the minimum requirements.

For Apple Users:

If you are using an Apple device that runs iOS 8 or older, you should update your phone to iOS 9 or later before the deadline in order to continue using WhatsApp. To check which version of iOS your phone is running on and if it meets the minimum requirements for WhatsApp’s 2020 deadline, go to Settings > General > About and look for Version.

For Android Users:

If you are using an Android device that runs Android 2.3 or older, you should update your phone to a newer version before the deadline in order to continue using WhatsApp. To check which version of Android your phone is running on and if it meets the minimum requirements for WhatsApp’s 2020 deadline, go to Settings > About Phone > Software Information > Android Version.

Conclusion:

WhatsApp will be ending support for certain phones from 1st January 2020, including iPhone 4 and earlier models that run iOS 8 or older, as well as some versions of Samsung Galaxy S2 and other android devices running Android 2. If you are using one of these devices, make sure to update your phone by then in order to continue using WhatsApp.
