Founded in 1994 by Jeff Bezos, Amazon is one of the most well-known ecommerce companies in the world. It started off as an online bookstore, but has since expanded its offerings to other products and services. Amazon’s headquarters are located in Seattle, Washington, USA.

The company operates three corporate offices in the US: Seattle, which is home to Amazon’s corporate headquarters; Bellevue, which is home to its Web Services division; and Austin, Texas, where Amazon’s Consumer Electronics division is based. All three locations are within a few miles of each other in the greater Seattle metropolitan area.

The Seattle location houses the majority of Amazon’s corporate staff, including its executive team and board of directors.

It also houses several divisions and subsidiaries such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Kindle, and Audible. The Bellevue office focuses on research and development for AWS while the Austin office handles product development for consumer electronic devices such as Fire tablets, Fire TVs and Echo smart speakers.

Amazon’s main campus in Seattle is located near Lake Union on a complex called South Lake Union (SLU). This area was once an industrial zone but has since been developed into a tech hub with several new buildings constructed for tech companies like Google and Microsoft. The SLU campus contains many of Amazon’s offices including those for engineering, finance, legal, marketing and operations.
