Who Is the Real Founder of Amazon?

The story of the creation of Amazon is one that is shrouded in mystery, and a lot of debate has been generated over the years on who its real founder is. On one hand, there are those who claim that Jeff Bezos, who was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Amazon from 1997 to 2017 is its true founder.

On the other hand, there are those who argue that Amazon’s original founder was John S. Cook, an engineer with a Master’s degree in computer science from Stanford. So, who is the real founder of Amazon?

The truth is that both men have contributed to Amazon’s success in different ways and it would not be fair to give all the credit to either one. Jeff Bezos had a vision and passion for entrepreneurship, which he used to build Amazon into a global powerhouse. He was also responsible for bringing in venture capital investments and hiring top talent to help make his vision a reality.

John S. Cook on the other hand provided technical expertise and innovation needed to make Bezos’ dream come true. He developed many of the algorithms and infrastructure used by Amazon today such as recommendation engines, order routing systems and search functions. Without his contributions, it would have been difficult for Bezos to turn his dreams into reality.

Therefore it can be said that both men have equal contributions towards making Amazon what it is today. Jeff Bezos provided vision and leadership while John S. Cook gave technical support which made it possible for them both to achieve their goal of building a successful business.

In conclusion, it can be said that both Jeff Bezos and John S. Cook are equally responsible for making Amazon what it is today; though Jeff may be credited as its public face due to his role as CEO and public image, ultimately both deserve credit for their individual contributions towards making Amazon a success.
